Creamy Smothered Chicken and Rice

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts
  • 2 cups white rice
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and cook the chicken until golden brown.
  2. Remove chicken and set aside. In the same skillet, add rice and toast for a few minutes.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth, bring to a boil, and then reduce to a simmer.
  4. Add heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, stirring well.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet, cover, and cook until rice is tender and chicken is cooked through.
  6. Sprinkle cheese on top and cover until melted.

  • For extra flavor, marinate chicken in spices overnight.
